On the ground - Week 3

Screening for traditional healers continues! The study team and I participated in screening the traditional healers in Mbarara and Rwampara districts (marked on the map below) according to the OMUYAMBI Project eligibility criteria.

Note: Rwampara district was carved out from Mbarara District in July 2019.

In total, we screened and confirmed eligibility for 45 traditional healers who expressed interest in partaking in the OMUYAMBI study. I, in collaboration with the project coordinator, mapped the traditional healers locations using the ArcGIS software. All the traditional healers were confirmed to be 3km apart from each other in according to the study protocol. Additionally, we mapped the 5 chosen HIV clinics and overlayed them on the map with the traditional healers to determine distance from each traditional healer to the nearest HIV clinic.

Lastly, we received OraQuick HIV self-tests that will be used in the OMUYAMBI study; as shown below!
